  Manhattan Bridge From Dumbo

Judy Burr Comments and Ratings:
This is a very nice night shot with a good exposure and color. I love the reflections and think they make the picture. I don;t think the slow shutter speed works too well here since it makes everything look out of focus. I think there are 2 ways to improve this picture--one would be to lighten it so the rocks in the foreground show up better because I feel they distract the way they are. The other would be to crop to about the bottom of the lovely reflections.

Yes, slow shutter is always fun to play with and I like the blurring of the water in the foreground, but I'd like to see the buildings sharper. Also, the image seems to divide itself into a foreground and background, leaving one somewhat ambivalent the image is about. Perhaps a lower angle could help compress some of the middle ground (except for the reflected colors, those are really nice) and tie the image together.

  St George, Bermuda

Judy Burr Comments and Ratings:
This picture has very nice leading lines formed by the rock wall. This certainly shows the environment very well. The blue building adds nice color and impact to the photo. I think it could be improved by lightening to provide more contrast and by cropping a bit on the right to eliminate the wires which I find a bit distracting.

You have exploited well the possibilities of your wide angle lens with this composition. The blue color of the building is attractive and interestingly is complemented by something blue (kite? rag?) on the left branch of the tree. But I don't think the light was very favorable for you at the time - the chimney seems to be melting into the sky due to lack of tonal contrast.
